December Member Spotlight

Firefighter Rene Lutz!

Firefighter Rene Lutz started her career in the fire service in 2015 as a Fire Police Officer with the Sellersville Fire Company.   She quickly realized that she was up for a much larger challenge and joined the Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Company as a Probationary Firefighter.  She trained with the company for 1 year before attending the Bucks County Basic Fire Academy in the Fall of 2017.   On December 13th she was awarded the Firefighter 1 ProBoard National accreditation.  She has completed her probationary period and has been placed on active status.

Rene joined the fire service to make a difference in her community.  Rene states she “has a need to serve a purpose greater than her”.  When asked what her greatest challenge was to attending the fire academy Rene says “it was the hardest physical challenge of my life.  The instructors don’t show any favoritism toward female firefighters so we have to work just as hard (and sometimes even harder) than the men”.

Rene’s firefighter qualifications include:

  • Firefighter 1 National Accreditation
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness National Accreditation
  • Hazardous Materials Operations National Accreditation

Rene’s firefighter motto:  “Everyone goes home”
